Patriot Ledger: When feeding city’s homeless on Thanksgiving, a little goes a long way

Two days earlier, local painters gathered on a Saturday to touch up the dining room walls at Father Bill’s Place to get it ready for tomorrow’s big meal. And while the painters were working, members of a Hingham church stopped by to drop of food donations.

“To have this support from the community and from the painter’s union, it means a lot,” said Pat Ronan, a spokesman for the organization. “We simply don’t have the resources to pull off projects like this. Projects like this are going to make our community feel like home.

Father Bill’s and MainSpring will serve about 400 people at community lunches in Quincy and Brockton on Thanksgiving Day, Ronan said. They will also distribute full Thanksgiving meals to as many as 350 people across the South Shore.
