Empowering Members, Creating Opportunities, and Driving Change
By Martin Castillo
Over the past few months, we have been deeply involved in political campaigns across the state, including at the town and municipal levels. While we may not have won every race, the candidates we supported made significant progress this year, advancing our shared values and priorities.
In addition to our political work, we have been building partnerships with community centers to create new apprenticeship opportunities. These programs are designed to give young people, especially teenagers, a chance to change their lives for the better – offering guidance, skills, and opportunities that can set them on a path to success.
Now more than ever, it is essential that our members feel empowered to speak up about issues on the job site. Workers should never have to remain silent when they face unsafe conditions, harassment, or unfair treatment. As an organization representing every member, we are here to listen, support, and help you find your voice. Reach out to your stewards or contact us directly – we will stand with you.
The western part of Massachusetts continues to be a hub of activity, with many projects underway. These achievements are made possible by the dedication and teamwork of our directors, administration staff, and every member contributing their effort. Together, we are ensuring that our members have the resources and support they need to succeed.
As always, we will continue working with the full council to navigate challenges, advocate for our members, and drive positive change in every aspect of our work.
