A FOND FAREWELL BY JEFF SULLIVAN
After 42 years with IUPAT District Council 35, I am proud to have been a part of an organization that fights for workers’ rights every single day, never shies away from a challenge, and takes every opportunity to improve the quality of life for our members.
Our members have shown that our strength comes from sticking together, from winning more work hours to improving our health, pension, and annuity plans. From Bangor to Worcester, DC 35 members have been at the forefront of helping to shape and improve their communities – through their commitment to service, by fighting passionately for all workers to have a voice on the job, and through effective political engagement.
The biggest win, for me, has been helping to build and foster our vibrant community. The heart of a union is its membership, and it has been a great honor to serve all of you. I am eternally grateful for the genuine solidarity we have fostered over the years. We are the union. DC 35’s success is all of our success, and I thank you for trusting me to guide our organization over the past 13 years as Business Manager/Secretary-Treasurer.
After many years of service, I have made the bittersweet decision to retire. This is what a union is all about – having the choice to retire with dignity after decades of service. This also makes way for the next generation of leadership. I have no doubt that Christian Brennan will make us all proud.
Leading this union has been one of my proudest achievements. I am excited to enjoy my retirement, and I look forward to seeing what’s next for District Council 35.
Thank you for everything,
Jeff Sullivan
