Building Relationships In The Community Creates Work Hours For Our Members by Joe Guarino

 In News, Newsletter: Summer 2020

Local work hours continue to be strong for our District Council crafts. Our staff works day and night to try to increase work opportunities for our members by attending local community public meetings, neighborhood advisory group meetings, and zoning board meetings, and by having continued dialogue with our local elected officials. We will continue to make the most of every opportunity to increase market share within the Boston and metropolitan neighborhoods, meeting with developers and owners of many large projects under consideration to be built.

We are passionate about the rights of workers and community area standards. We as union leaders will continue promoting the path to the middle class for our members. The power of collective bargaining lifts living standards for all workers and will provide a secure future for our members and their families, as well as strengthening our communities. Our members will continue to benefit from the continued persistence and hard work we do day in and out.

We also should recognize the key role local, state and national leaders play in supporting and advocating our values. Our members should continue to educate themselves on working-class issues; we will continue to face many challenges in the upcoming years, and we need to work together to make sure we keep the rights and protections we have fought so hard for. Now, more than ever, we should stay united. The power of our membership voting for a representative that believes what we do is exactly why voting is so important–our votes help elect the decision makers.
