IUPAT DC 35 Hosts 2018 STAR Event

International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 35 Annual Star Event draws over 2,500 union members and their families, including special guest speakers like Senator Elizabeth Warren and Gubernatorial Candidate Jay Gonzalez.

Over 2,000 members of the union and their families converged at the Boston Teachers Union Hall in Dorchester for a day of events highlighting safety training and family fun.

Every year, at the STAR Awards, the union gives away over a hundred prizes to its members for completing key industry safety training. From grand prizes such as GMC SUV, and pick-up truck, and Indian Motorcycle to door prizes such as an American Benchcraft tote bag, a sweatshirt, tee shirts and a pair of Red Wing Boots, the union gives out $150K in prizes to all of its members. The winners of the grand prizes are selected through a raffle.

“We have been holding the STAR Event for over 20 years now,” said Jeff Sullivan, Business Manager of IUPAT DC35. “This is our way of not only giving back to the membership but also keeping them safe. We care about the continued education of our members to make them the best qualified, highly-skilled workers in the finishing trades industry.”

This year over 2500 members and their families were in attendance.
