Vern Gaylor
Business Representative 617-592-2298

With the grand opening of the MGM Casino on August 24, our members working for Mid-West Pro Painting, KHS+S, Skyline Drywall, H Carr, and First Choice Drywall were put to the test during the months of May, June and July. They worked up to 56 hours a week right up to the deadline to finish the job. This project really tested our resolve to supply the manpower, which at its peak numbered about 80 members.

We not only had to man the casino, but also had to do work that always happens during the summer. We are painting two new high schools with an August deadline so they can be supplied with new furniture in time to open in September. A great deal of thanks goes to Jorge Rivera and Justin Desmond in our Organizing Department for all the work they did to ensure we were able to supply these jobs with the necessary labor. We were able to add members from all over the state to a lotof our locals. I would like to commend them both on a job well done.
